Criminal Minds is a police procedural show that focuses on the FBI team that is part of the behavioral analysis unit(BAU). It premiered on CBS in September 22, 2005. The profilers of this team capture serial killers by focusing on what the murders tell them about the assailant. After observing the scenes of the murders they can often tell an age and a race of a killer as well as a lot about their personality and how they may be finding their victims. In March of 2012 the show was renewed for an 8th season. One of the things that makes the show watchable though is the dynamic of the characters and the way the work together. The writers do some character development when it fits into the story line. There are seven current team members and there is constantly seven main team members, it is part of the dynamic as they work together to solve murders.

Aaron Hotchner is the unit leader, and often can not find the balance between work and family. His ex-wife was killed by the reaper a serial killer during the fifth season of the show and he now has sole custody of his son Jack. He is a caring father but also has a lot of devotion to his team and his work. Recently in the seventh season they have shown a love interest emerging for him.

Derek Morgan is a strong leader on the team as well, and has taken the leadership position in Hotchner's absence after his wife died. He was raised in Chicago and became interested in football through a inner city mentor who was later arrested for child molestation. Morgan went to Northwestern University on a football scholarship, but later joined the Chicago police department bomb squad after a knee injury ended his football career. He was eventually reassigned to the BAU.

David Rossi is an experienced agent who came in after agent Gideon left in season three. He was on the original BAU team and retired to become a writer about criminal analysis. He has been married three times and recently his first wife came onto the show to tell him she had ALS. She then died of a drug overdose in a later episode, because she didn't want the disease to take over her life.

Emily Prentiss is a complicated character, she is the daughter of Elizabeth Prentiss, a UN ambassador. She has knowledge of many languages, and has a dark past with Ian Doyle a Russian man who she formerly had a relationship with. She is supposedly killed, but then hides out in Paris with only two team members knowing where she has gone. She later comes back which is a shock, and some team members ultimately don't know how to feel about it, since they even had a funeral for Emily.

Dr. Spencer Reid is the youngest BAU member, and holds a doctorate in Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry, as well as BAs in Psychology and Sociology. He is a genius who graduated high school at age 12. He has an eidetic memory and knows the statistics on everything. His knowledge is often intimidating but he is a loved part of the team. His mother suffers from Schizophrenia.

Jennifer Jareau was originally a communication liason for the team to the press, she made all the press releases for the team. She has a son named Henry with a New Orleans police officer who she is currently in a relationship with. During season six she was forced to take a promotion to the pentagon, and did not appear in a lot of episodes that season, but returned as a full time cast member in season seven and is now a FBI profiler.

Penelope Garcia is the technical analyst for the team, she was hired to the FBI after hacking into their equipment illegally. She has a special relationship with profiler Derek Morgan, and is dating another FBI technical analyst Kevin Lynch. She leads a grief group for people that have lost a family member, her parents were killed by a drunk driver while they were out looking for her, when she was a teenager.

Representation of Criminal Minds

According to writer Simon Mirren a writer on the television series Criminal Minds all of the episodes are based on something that has happened, the writers have written cases similar to those of the penn state football coach, Jerry Sandusky, as well as a couple cases that were very similar to that of the Zodiac Killer and Jack the Ripper. He also states that the writers of criminal minds enjoy developing the characters whenever the storyline allows. There is often a little bit of character development of the same character in each episode that is strung across a few episodes, like Hotchner's new love interest, or the development of Emily's story with Ian Doyle took the whole season to develop.

When looking into images for criminal minds i discovered their blog on the set of Criminal Minds. It seems through all the descriptions and pictures they have a cast that is more like a family, by celebrating birthdays and sticking together in a strike. The writers seem to collaborate to form the storyline.

http://criminalmindsfanatic.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

The television series doesn't have a distinct ecology. The team travels across the United States solving different crimes. Their home office is in Quantico, VA where they start each episode by being briefed on a case, they then travel on a private jet to the scene of the crimes. I am still not sure if the show is filmed on location but by the quality of the sets shown I am guessing not. It seems they just work the same sets into different scenarios. The team does have a special family like friendship which seems to also be true for all the workers on the set.

As seen in the back of this picture the writers of Criminal Minds work together by writing all the details of the season on a whiteboard. This helps the episodes to flow together with interlinking details making it a mastermind of a television series.

In the series there are 7 team members although some have left and been replaced, like Elle Greenaway was a main team member in the first season and was replaced with a very similarily looking and named character Emily Prentiss. Other characters have left and come back to the show, like the teams PR agent Jennifer Jareau who left temporarily in season six and was filled in for by similarly looking character Ashley Seavor. JEnnifer Jareau has returned ot the series as a full time cast member and Seavor's contract has not been renewed for the next season.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_Minds

The team members are in the opening credits of the show and all other contributors are denoted in the ending credits.

The television show premieres on CBS at 8 central time every Wednesday. It is then put onto the CBS website the following day in full episode format, it used to be put on in clips but has recently changed this year. Also there has been talk in the past of a release of a video game, where the player would gather clues at the crime scene and then use them to solve the murders. In October 2009 the game was projected to be released in 2012, but I have not seen much else about it except that, so I'm assuming that the release of the video game fell through.

Criminal Minds has many viewers that tune in every Wednesday to watch the development of their favorite characters and be scared by the criminals depicted. It has been rated the ninth most DVR played back show. It is also received positive reviews from television critics in the first season but since then has recieved mixed reviews from television critics, saying the plot and characters are confusing. I think that it is a show you have to be hooked on, you can't miss an episode or you will fall behind, because like I mentioned before often characters and even serial killers are developed over multiple episodes and if you miss an episode you could miss an important piece of the puzzle. The show promotes a fan following and that is why there are many blogs that follow the show. The show also allows for speculation from episode to episode so it is interactive with viewers and leaves you with something to think about for next weeks episode.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_Minds#Characters

Criminal Minds is more than a television show for its viewers. Most viewers have to get more of the social profilers world and get perspectives of other viewers on what happened in the episode. Most Criminal Minds fans do this through social media outlets like blogspot.com or watching it in groups, I often watch it in a group of friends or at least discuss the episode after with friends to speculate about next week.

Hey Lorie - thanks for posting! It looks good so far - I'll have more detailed comments for you in the next day or two. I like how in Socialization you talk about the internet responses of viewers - definitely a good area of interest. --Ryan

Your Cultural-Historical Activity Theory on Criminal Minds is very good. It is very visually appealing and clean. There is enough information on the slides, but not too much as to cause clutter. I liked that you included pictures on most slides to give an even more visual representation of the "behind-the-scenes" work of Criminal Minds. I found it interesting that the writers come together and work out the details of the season on the white board. I really like that you included that the cast was more like a family than just coworkers because it is an interesting detail that may affect how their characters on the television show will interact. My criticism for this would be to go into more detail in your comments, so we can get a really good image in our minds about what goes on during the writing portion of this television series. A few sections only had a few sentences and left me thinking there should be more behind such a popular television show. Be sure to reread through your work because some of the grammar left me slightly confused about what you were trying to say. My question for you is did the actors actually move around the country filming different episodes or did the characters move around to different places to solve crimes? I was confused if it was one or the other or both.

Great CHAT map! I loved the way you organized your slides and that you used a lot of the space for pictures. I personally have never seen the show and had no idea that the crimes in the show were actually based on crimes from real life. I also like that the show does not just focus on the crimes but also on character development. You did a very good job of emphasizing how the cast is very much a family as well as explaining how the fans interact with each other through blogs. As for criticism, I would recommend that you add more information to the descriptions on your slides, some of the description were a little confusing and more information could have cleared it up. For example, in the Activity and Ecology section you mention that the team members move around the country to solve crimes, does this mean that the actual cast and crew moves or that just the characters do? I would have liked to see you describe the actual characters in more detail as well so that those of us who haven't seen the show can better visualize how the show actually works. You could also have included examples of how the characters have developed since the show first started airing. I also have another question, do you know if the team members were replaced by similarly looking people for and specific reason? Overall though, you did a great job. Your CHAT map looks great!

Overall I really liked your CHAT map. The colors are inviting and make it appealing to the eye. Also, the pictures illustrate what you want to talk about in your comments. The slides give enough information for you readers to figure out what you are going to talk about in your comments. However, as a huge fan of this show, I think you could have gone into more detail about how it was created, how the characters and storylines were put together, and what the show is. I would have liked to know if the writers thought that Criminal Minds would be this popular of a show. And when you say that the episodes are based on real life, do you mean the characters in the show as well, or just the crime? Also, I would have liked to know if the actors actually travel around the country, or if it is just on the character on the show that travel. I think that some of your comments are slightly confusing because of the wording, and others left me asking questions. To resolve those two issues you could have reread your comments before posing them, and added more to the ones that were only a few sentences long. But overall I think the CHAT map is good, and for going first it gives a good basis for the rest of the class to use as a resource.

Lorie Reid 3 months ago

To clear up the confusions that people had the team of FBI profilers travels to different states to solve different crimes, although their FBI office is set in Quantico, VA. The show is rarely in their official office though. I believe there is a set and the actors do not actually travel.

Also the episodes are based on real crimes like 2 weeks ago they did an episode based on the zodiac killer.

The visual aesthetics that your CHAT map had immediately stood out to me. The pictures were well aligned with the text, and the text that was there was concise and simple. This simplicity yet aligned nature of your slides allows me to absorb the main points without having to think about it to hard. However, I was confused as to why you began your CHAT presentation with representation without introducing the production history first. This may be a matter of opinion, but by starting with production, you allow the audience to grasp the nature of the show and its creation. In terms of reception, there was a short and rather vague description on the reception of the text. To amend this, you could describe some of the different themes of the televisions series or discuss its high quality entertainment value. The combination of activity and ecology was great because I could see how the actors got along while producing the text as well as how much they enjoy being with each other. I also found it difficult to discern the relationships between the different perspectives in your CHAT MAP. For example, the combination activity and ecology on the same slide while stating that there was little ecology was slight confusing. I suggest that you could fix this by relating each perspective to one another through transitions from one slide to the next. Doing this, I could easily tell how the text is produced and how it is distributed to the public.

kepeaco Level 1 Commenter 3 months ago

Overall this CHAT map is very well written. It is very interesting to see that the events are actually based off real events. By combining both ecology and activity you showed the connection between certain elements of CHAT. By showing how it is produced and especially the picture it shows that you did research well and also the close relationship that all of the workers have with one another. It is very interesting to see that the characters act like a family outside the show along with working like a team within the show. Your ideas are well put together and there is a clear and concise flow of ideas. The CHAT map is informative and goes into more detail and gives an idea of the different aspects of the show. Although this is well written parts of it could have had more detail for instance there is very little information in the distribution and also the reception sections. For distribution is it aired in other countries or only in the United States? For reception, do all people respond positively to this show or are some people against it because it depicts real crimes? Also the grammar in some spots needs improvement and there are spots where the capitalization is wrong. But overall this is a great example of the first CHAT map and is well developed and thought out.

Overall, this CHAT- map was well done. I liked how the slides were consistent with one another, and there was enough information on each slide to get the point across without it becoming too much information. I found it interesting that a show with such a complicated storyline was written out on a white board. I also found it interesting that the cast is very close both on and off set. I feel like this would help them to work together better while shooting the episodes. One issue that I have would be that you started your CHAT map with representation rather than production. This is not a huge issue but it would make more sense to start off with how the show is made in order to make your slides somewhat chronological. My advice to you would be to elaborate some more on your explanations. For example, your first slide about representation was somewhat vague, so maybe you could go into more detail about what kind of real life events the writer uses to base the episodes off of. Also, I would proof read some of your explanations for grammatical errors because some of the explanations were a little confusing. On the production slide, I was a little confused with whether or not the team members are people who work behind the scenes or are actual characters in the television show, so maybe you could add some clarity to that slide. All in all, this CHAT map was done well but just needs a few corrections and revisions it will help strengthen it.

I thought your CHAT map was done very well. The slides are very visually appealing and the show is represented nicely throughout the whole presentation. Although I have seen some of the show I do not keep up with it so it was very informative to me. I found several things you wrote very interesting such as the whiteboard technique they use. The idea that they outline the whole season before they do it with such detail is really intriguing. I thought the pictures you used were helpful in aiding the information you were talking about and it helped to bring your words to life. I also thought the flow of your chat map was organized well. Your slides continued nicely into each other and it was easy to follow the points you were trying to emphasize. However, there are some things you could have done to improve your presentation. I thought the information that you included was very informative but I thought that there could have been more. Some slides had big paragraphs that described them while others just had a couple sentences. One that could have been enhanced with more length would be reception. You could have talked more about the fan base and how much it had grown or the average age range of the fans. Overall the CHAT map was very effective and it was well done for the first week!

This is a really good CHAT map! I like the layout that you chose, and I love the color. The pictures were great because they went along with what you were talking about in the slide. I think the socialization slide should have had a picture, but I like that you minimized the amount of words used on the slides and kept it simple. I like the fact that the slides were not in exact order because certain aspects are similar or related and should be mentioned next to each other. I love this show, so I loved finding out how close the cast is to each other and that the episodes are based on actual events. I feel like your comments for distribution and reception were a little short. For distribution you could say if seasons are available to buy in stores or anything like that. For reception you could have gone into detail about the popularity of the show and how much the fans love watching. Overall, it was a good CHAT map for the show and was very informative.

I am a big fan of this show. Your CHAT map was interesting. I think that the storyboards are very important for a show of this complexity. So much happens in each show that has nothing to do with the crime at hand. For example, in one of this season’s episode JJ’s son was sick, there has to be prior knowledge of her having a son to be able to introduce this conflict. An even better example is how they approached Prentiss last year, they spent many shows developing this backstory to be able to “kill” her off and then bring her back. The slides are esthetically pleasing. The blogs and forums are a very important part of today’s TV series. It might have been better to add more detail into your explanations. I also thought it was interesting that you chose a picture of the cast that still had Gideon who is no longer part of the show. You mentioned that the cast is like a family and that some characters left and then returned. It would have been cool if you would have mentioned that this was partly due to fan reactions and the cast interactions. I think that you hint all of the main points of making a show that is as successful as Criminal Minds.

Hi Lorie,

Overall I really enjoyed reading your CHAT map; I have not seen many episodes but this PowerPoint definitely made me want to start! I like how you incorporated how close the cast is and it shows that you worked hard on researching the show to make a great PowerPoint. As a reader I can tell that you really knew what you were talking about and you enjoyed talking about the show. I like how you include the viewer responses that you found online! The actual slides contained the perfect amount of information but I thought some of the summaries underneath the slides lacked information and some had too much information. I really found it interesting that the show is based on real crimes! The pictures you included went along great with what was written on the slide! I thought your PowerPoint was very to the point and I found it easy to get your main point from each slide. Also, your PowerPoint was decorated but not overdone, I really enjoyed your CHAT map and found it very effective!

Lorie, for the sake of being different I will not say how awesome your CHAT map was in the first sentence - I'll say it in the second. It was awesome! I liked your pictures, you cited everything well, you didn't put to much information but gave enough to make readers want to consider watching this show. I like how the plot is based on real crimes, although that's also kind of creepy when you think about it. Sometimes you can tell yourself, "No, people can't be that f***king crazy," but then you remember that people like the Zodiac killer did exist. One critique i have is that the URLs you included are very large, and about the same size as the rest of your text. It almost draws attention away from what you want to convey, so it may be better if you change the font size. Also, I thought that after the first slide you could include a brief introduction to the show. Not too much, but just everything you think the reader needs to know. I'm just wondering, have you seen every single episode? I'm pretty bad with TV shows, so when I get sucked in I have to watch every single episode (although I missed the last three episodes of the newest season of Dexter). Anyway, good job! I'm glad I read this.

One of the first things that I really liked was that all the slides were uniform especially with only the single picture on each. The information was also easy to read. One thing that was frustrating to me was that I wasn’t able to really get a feel of what the show was or if it is fiction or if its all fact. I liked how you had pictures of not only the show but of the cast and those who work behind the camera. You seem to have cited everything but I did think that the links on each page were a little big. I think going into more detail and describing the slides would be helpful to those viewing the Chat map to get a better idea. Maybe you could go talk more about the characters or types of crimes that are developed or portrayed in the show. If I’m right in saying that some of the writer’s inspirations come from real crimes, I am curious about whether or not the show has had any negative feedback about showing what I can assume are violent deaths. Overall a very good presentation!

jphager 3 months ago

Hey Lorie,

To start, I’ll start off by saying that the consistency of your presentation is very nice. Every slide seems to be near identical and it’s always a good thing to have consistency when it comes to a presentation. I like a lot of criminal shows like CSI, law and order, and criminals minds as well. It’s a very intriguing show and brings forth some intriguing things that are quite true in our world, very good choice for your CHAT map. I’m a fan of short, sweet, and to the point so I like how each slide is exactly like that and they are all followed by a good brief summary that goes into each slide a little more. Would it hurt to add a little bit more on each slide? No not at all, but it it’s not necessary, but may help in the future. I like your Socialization summary a lot because it is very true. Criminal Minds gives people a lot to talk about because of the feelings and emotions that are felt and shown during the show. The show goes so deeply into cases that it gives people a lot to talk about. Very good job talking about that in your CHAT map! I liked your presentation a lot, especially because I like the show, but because you do a good job talking about the show and how it works.

I immediately took an interest to your CHAT map because of the layout of the slides. The bullet points are short, and because there are few pictures, the slides are clean and uncluttered. While your explanations of each slide may be fairly short, they include all the information one would like to know about each slide. I enjoyed learning more about the show. I didn’t know that each episode was based on a true-to-life situation. I liked that you included information not only about the characters, but about the writers as well. Learning more about how the show is put together made me more interested to actually watch Criminal Minds. It was interesting that you also included the online blogs and forums during the socialization aspect of the presentation. These helped me to further explore the show and go beyond just looking at the hub page. One criticism I have is that I would have liked to learn more about the characters of the show. You mentioned that the cast is ever changing, but a description of the main characters would have helped me to understand the show better. While keeping your slide descriptions short made the presentation easy to follow, I think that including more information could help readers to get a better feel for the show. Overall, the presentation was short, to the point and very informative.

mrfinne 3 months ago

Hey Lorie,

I absolutely love criminal minds. You had good organization and flow with the slides. The information was small but easy to read. You could use more pictures and colors on your slides. Also, you're information was very good relating to each topic. It was very precise and helped people who hasn't seen the show, understand it. Also, i feel like you strayed away from the characters, you could have talked about them more. Overall it was an awesome project!

knscott 3 months ago

I only found one possible thing that might need tweaking in your whole presentation. Under the representation slide it says that the episodes are based on something that has happened, and it is a little unclear. It might get the point across better to say that the episodes are based on real events. Your slides were very clear and clean cut. They got to the point, had good information to prompt your paragraphs below, and were not messy. The slides made me want to look at them and read them because of the crisp colors you chose and how you arranged the pictures in a way that was not clustered and messy. All of the visuals in your presentation were great and inviting, and they basically begged me to read the comments below them to see what the slides were all about. Overall your presentation was very organized, and except for the one line under your representation slide I had no problem following where the train of thought was throughout the slides. You had good points on every slide and explained them very well in your comments beneath. The information you presented was also interesting and not just space a filler.

seking Level 1 Commenter 3 months ago

I absolutely love this show, and am really glad you did a CHAT map on it! First of all, I really like your presentation because the slides all have a picture clearly related to the topic, and the amount of information on the slides is perfect. There is just enough that the information isn't that vague, but not to much information that the slide looks like there is incredibley to many words on it. I thought there could have been a little more detail under the slides relating to each topic because I was confused about a couple things. First, I would just like to know when the first show came out? I got involved in the show midway through one of the seasons, and I would just like to know when exactly it first came out. Also, you said that the basic plotline for each episode was based off of something that actually happened, and I was wondering where exactly they got these stories. Did they get them from police men, actual FBI agents, or someone else? You also mentioned a strike of some sort. Who was striking and what were they striking about? This was mentioned earlier, but I would also like to know what the reactions from the audience were when the show first came out? I was wondering if people were more interested in it because of other crime shows, such as CSI, or if the fact that it was just another crime show turned them off of watching it. Overall, I really liked your CHAT map because it was easy to follow and flowed really nicely! I was just curious about a couple things, but that's just because I really like the show and was interested in it. Great job!

One of most positive aspects of your CHAT map is the simplistic design of your slides. They are aesthetically pleasing and easy to read. I have never seen the show, so I liked that you included interesting information, such as the show is based on real life cases. I also liked that you included details on the closeness of the cast members and a look at what happens behind the scenes of the show. The pictures that accompanied the slides were also very effective because they were reflective of what you were discussing in the slide. I do have a couple criticisms, though. A big setback to your presentation is the lack of information on some of the slides, which had only a sentence or two. For example, it would have been interesting to go into a little detail about the show’s intended audience and the audience’s reaction to the show. I do like that the slides themselves weren’t cluttered with too much information, however. Another suggestion I have is that maybe you could have begun the presentation with a quick overview of the show’s premise and a brief summary of the main characters, as not everyone will be familiar with these aspects of the show. I enjoyed reading your CHAT map and all its effective and interesting details!

jface26 3 months ago

Never seen the show but I do hear about it all the time. Good organization of the slides and it looked really neat. But I do feel like some of the slides really needed a little more information and background to them. But you did back up most of them with the comments underneath the slides. The one that i thought was really good was activity and ecology. At first i was confused as to why you combined two slides but then i read underneath that there is no set ecology to the show. I've never seen any episodes but they way you explained how they move around from place to place and investigate stuff made it sound really interesting to me. Also, some of the parts of chat map are hard to find in really in depth information on so i still think you did okay with that. All in all your presentation was well put together

Your CHAT map looks great! The first thing I noticed about this slideshow was how visually appealing it is. Things like that really matter when making a first impression on listeners, because it could make or break how much attention they give you. Also I liked the amount of information given. In terms of the power point, your key words were appropriate and fit in fluidly with the information you provided. And I also appreciate the extra information outside of the power points. I felt like it was a good amount of info that would not be too overwhelming to those learning from it. My only advice I can possibly think of is to perhaps explain the ‘reception’ category a little more thoroughly. I understood what you were saying and why you were saying it, but there is not much new that an audience learns for that particular slide. Besides that detail, I thought you did an overall fantastic job on your CHAT map for this show, and I might even check it out to see if it is just as good of a show as you say it is!

Visually, the CHAT map is very appealing. The colors are very energetic and aesthetically pleasing. The short bullet points are also a great aspect to the Power Point. I feel like long lists and bullet points tend to be overwhelming, but your short points are very direct and concise. I have never seen Criminal Minds, but the pictures give the viewers a good sense of the characters. The pictures are well coordinated with the text and can help viewers make an easier connection between what is written and how that is represented in the show. I would have to say that although the short bullet points are definitely appealing, the descriptions could use a little bit more elaboration. I feel like the Representation could have included some more information as well as go into greater depth of the show since not all of the viewers of the presentation has seen the show. Examples would make these sections less vague, such as events that the episodes are based on, examples of certain cases, etc. Since the current descriptions are very short, additional information would not cause the description to lose its main focus. Someone unfamiliar with the show may not have any idea as to what kind of crimes this series is based on. Overall, the CHAT map effectively shows the audience different aspects of the show in a clean, cut-to-the-chase sort of way.

Even though I have seen a lot of episodes of Criminal Minds, your CHAT map gave me information about the show that I didn’t know. I had no idea that each episode was based on real events that have happened. As you stated, the writers of Criminal Minds enjoy developing characters whenever the script allows for it. This is very true as this can be noticed just from a watching a couple of episodes. I like how you explained that the cast is just like family in real life as they celebrate each other’s birthdays and such. I think the way they write all the details of the season on the whiteboard is a great idea to help link episodes together. I also was not aware of the social interaction through the media outlet blogspot.com. I thought that was very cool how fans could interact with each other. Some criticisms, some of your slides had very little information in the comments section. Most were great but I feel like there are a few slides that you could of added some information. I feel that the slides distribution and reception could have just a little more information in the comments section. Other than that, I really have no objections to your work. I think you did an awesome job on this CHAT map providing us great insight to the show. The slides were visually pleasing and almost every slide had a picture with information that was straight to the point.

The first thing that you notice when you open this CHAT map is the striking background. Its bright enough to catch the reader’s attention, yet simple enough not to overwhelm. On top of that, your pictures were very appropriate. Good visuals are definitely something that I appreciate. Kudos. On top of that, I think it’s really interesting how you managed to include different aspects about life behind the scenes of the show (like how the actors are actually very close beyond the set). That was actually pretty heartwarming to know that the actor aren’t just showing up for the paycheck and that they actually have a passion for what they do. However, there was one aspect that caused a bit of confusion. When you say that “they move around the country”, are you just referring to the characters and set design? Or does the production actually take place in different areas? Other than that, I needed no clarification. Perhaps a bit more elaboration and a few more specific statistics on a few slide, like socialization and reception, would help the reader understand why this show is so important to popular culture. Maybe if the number of viewers each week were listed, it might help to show how popular this program really is! You were very specific and concise, and overall, it was a very good presentation.

You did very well on your CHAT map. I enjoy the colors and the layout of your slides. It makes the text easy to read. I also appreciate that your comments on each slide are very straightforward and easy to understand. However, there are some minor improvements that I believe could contribute to the greatness that is your CHAT map. Perhaps you could make the text small for your URLs? Although they are easy to read, they seem sporadic and messy on some slides. It might improve your layout to make the text smaller and to place the text under the photo you used. Still, your layout is not bland in the least. Perhaps another improvement you could make on your presentation is by adding more information to both the slides and their description. I enjoy the to-the-point details, but because I’ve never seen the show, Criminal Minds, I’m a little shaky on the details of the seven steps of CHAT. However, I like how you combined two of the steps in order to avoid a blank slide. Perhaps to improve this idea; however, you could combine ecology with a different step. I’m not sure activity and ecology go well together. Overall, I think you did a good job on your CHAT map. By adding detail, I think this could be A+ material. Go you!
